Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Amid rising concerns over global energy disruptions due to the ongoing Iran conflict, Indian oil companies on Wednesday assured that the country has adequate fuel reserves and there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG. The clarification comes as speculation grew over possible supply issues following disruptions in key global shipping routes.
Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil Corporation stated that fuel supply chains remain stable and fully operational across the country. The companies urged citizens not to fall for rumours or resort to panic buying, emphasising that adequate stocks are available to meet demand.
The concerns stem from the escalating conflict in West Asia, which has disrupted movement through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical route for global energy supplies. With tankers delayed and shipments affected, fears over shortages and even lockdown-like measures began circulating online, leading to a spike in related searches.
Addressing the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to remain prepared for potential challenges, warning that prolonged disruptions could have serious consequences. He assured that the government is actively working to safeguard supply chains and national interests, while continuing efforts to strengthen resilience against global shocks.
